Steady Pacing Powers a Strong Half Marathon Finish Ashton Herndon completed the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 1:49:32, an average pace of 8:21 per mile across the 13.1-mile course. After opening with an 8:55 first mile, Herndon settled into rhythm, trimming his pace through the middle miles. His strongest stretch came between miles 4 and 6, where he covered three miles in under 24 minutes, touching a low of 7:55 per mile. From there, his cumulative pace held steady in the low 8:20s through the finish, capped by a final mile in 8:15. The Boulderthon half marathon route climbs into Boulder's thin air above 5,000 feet before finishing on the historic Pearl Street Mall, and Herndon met that ground with composed, even effort from start to finish.
