Even Effort Through 20 Miles Gives Way to a Tough Final Stretch Wyatt Smart finished the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 3:41:28, placing 169th overall and 145th among men out of a field of 3,305. Smart ran a remarkably even race through the first 20 miles, holding between 7:03 and 8:07 per mile and passing the 20-mile mark in 2:29:26 an average pace of 7:28 per mile to that point. His fastest full mile came at mile 11, covered in 7:03. The final 6 miles brought a marked slowdown, with per-mile splits climbing from 9:52 at mile 21 to 13:34 by the finish, pushing his overall pace to 8:27 per mile. Given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, the early consistency stands out as the strongest segment of the race.
