Steady Early Pace Anchors a Strong Age-Group Finish Dan Spale completed the marathon in 4:53:30, placing second in the M70-74 division. After two previous appearances at Boulderthon in the half marathon, this marked his step up to the full 26.2-mile distance. Spale's race showed a clear two-part shape: through the first 12 miles he held a tight band between 9:10 and 9:57 per mile, his strongest stretch of the day, keeping his cumulative pace under 10:00/mile deep into the race. From there, the pace gradually eased, settling into the 11:00-14:00 per mile range over the closing miles as cumulative pace drifted to 11:12/mile by the finish. Running at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Spale's disciplined opening miles set up a result that held up well across the full distance.
