Steady Early Pace Carries Through a Tough Final Stretch Roberto Iriarte finished the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:14:14, holding a strong 8:53-9:12 mile pace through the first eighteen miles. Miles 1-4 were especially consistent, each falling between 8:54 and 8:59 per mile, building an early cushion before the back half of the course brought a natural fade. From mile 19 onward, splits gradually loosened, climbing into the 11:00-12:16 range by miles 21-23, before he rallied over the final three miles to close in 11:22, 10:09, and a strong finish. The marathon course finishes on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a fitting capstone after the late push. Running at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Iriarte's ability to hold sub-9:10 pacing for three-quarters of the race reflects well on his early management of the effort.
