Consistent Pacing Carries a Well-Managed Half Carla Hammer finished the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 1:50:16 (8:25 min/mile), her slowest showing across four trips to this race behind 1:43:36 in 2023, 1:47:04 in 2024, and 1:46:09 in 2025. She opened briskly, clocking 7:53 for mile one, then saw her elapsed pace ease steadily through the middle miles, climbing toward 8:22 by mile nine before tightening back to 8:25 at the finish. That opening mile stood out as her strongest sustained running of the day, well ahead of the pace she'd hold for the rest of the race. The half marathon finishes on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a city sitting above 5,000 feet of elevation. This year's course also carried nearly 50 percent less climbing than in past editions, down to roughly 203 feet of gain over the 13.1 miles she covered.
