Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Michael Cheperak #23182 Race: 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles

Age-Group Gold From Start to Finish Michael Cheperak crossed the line in 1:47:25, claiming the win in the 65-69 division for the Half Marathon. He held that division lead from the very first mile split and never relinquished it, a rare display of consistency across the field of 7,223. The race's shape tells the story: Cheperak banked his fastest running in the opening 10K, reaching mile 6 in 47:09, an average of 7:51 per mile. That early efficiency built a cushion he could spend later, as the second half settled into the 8:00-8:40 range with a brief dip to 9:13 at mile 11 before he closed strong over the final two miles. Racing at altitude in Boulder, sitting above 5,000 feet, that early pace stands out even more.
