Steady Pacing Powers a Personal Best Tom Arany finished the half marathon in 1:46:30 (8:07/mile), placing 592nd overall and 439th among men out of the field of 7,223. This marks his fastest Boulderthon half marathon across four appearances, improving on 2:03:10 in 2023, 1:48:00 in 2024, and 1:47:02 in 2025. The race unfolded with a strong start, settling into a highly consistent rhythm through the first ten miles his cumulative pace held between 7:25 and 7:45 per mile, reaching the 10-mile mark in 1:17:34 for a 7:45/mile average. A dip through miles 11-12 briefly slowed his overall pace before he closed with a 7:59 final mile. This year's course carried nearly 50% less elevation gain than in prior editions, and Arany's even effort at altitude over 5,000 feet made for a well-managed run from downtown Boulder to the finish on the Pearl Street Mall.
