Fast Start Fades Late but Holds Top-10% Finish Edward Krutikov finished the half marathon in 1:43:13, placing 470th overall and 369th among men out of the field of 7,223 a result inside the top 10 percent. His race told two distinct stories: a controlled, sub-7:00 pace through the first six miles, followed by a steady erosion after mile 7, with per-mile splits climbing into the 8- and 9-minute range and a 10:21 mile 11 marking the toughest stretch before he rallied slightly to close. The opening six miles were the highlight, covered in 40:02 for a 6:40 average pace, showing strong early control. That stretch likely carried him out past Boulder Reservoir and through the county backroads that make up much of the half marathon course before the return into downtown Boulder, all at more than 5,000 feet of elevation, a demanding backdrop for holding early pace. He crossed the finish on the Pearl Street Mall to close out the effort.
