Steady Pacing Delivers a Faster Half Dan Thomasson crossed the line in 1:49:39, shaving 36 seconds off his 2025 Boulderthon half marathon time of 1:50:15 and moving up in both his overall and gender rankings from that race. His pacing stayed remarkably consistent through the first ten miles, hovering between 8:08 and 8:35 per mile, before a slower 11th mile (8:57) was followed by his fastest full mile of the day an 8:02 twelfth mile showing a strong closing push before finishing on the Pearl Street Mall. This year's half marathon course carried nearly 50% less net elevation gain than in 2025, down to 203 feet, a shift that may have played a role in his improved time. With cumulative pace holding in the low 8:20s for most of the race, Dan's rebound after the mile 11 dip stands out as the highlight of an evenly-run race.
