Strong Start Fuels a Steady Half Marathon Finish Rich Roedel finished in 1:44:46, placing 529th overall and 406th among men out of the field of 7,223 in the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon. Roedel opened briskly, covering the first five miles between 7:36 and 7:48 per mile, with mile five his fastest stretch of the race at 7:36. From there, pace eased through the middle miles, dipping to 8:15 by mile eight, before a tougher patch at mile eleven (8:45). He rallied over the final two miles, closing in 8:02 and 8:07 to finish strong. This year's redesigned half marathon course trimmed net elevation gain nearly 50 percent to 203 feet, a notable adjustment given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, and Roedel's pacing reflected a well-managed effort across that terrain.
