Steady Pacing Powers a Strong Half Marathon Finish Joseph Levine finished the half marathon in 1:45:46 (8:04/mile), placing 573rd overall and 429th among men a top-10% finish in a field of 7,223. His mile splits stayed remarkably consistent, hovering between 7:52 and 8:34 for most of the race, with cumulative pace never straying far from 8:048:09/mile. The final two miles stood out: after a slight dip near mile 8, Levine surged through miles 12 and 13 in 7:31 and 7:44, his fastest sustained stretch of the day. That strong closing kick, delivered at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, capped a well-controlled effort with negative-split energy exactly when it mattered most.
