That consistency set up a strong finish, as he dropped to 8:02 for mile 12 and 7:53 for mile 13, covering that closing two-mile stretch at roughly 7:58 per mile his fastest sustained running of the race. Racing at altitude, with Boulder sitting above 5,000 feet, Honea's ability to speed up rather than fade over the final miles stands out.
