Strong Start Anchors a Steady Finish Michael Chen finished the half marathon in 1:41:33, placing 408th overall and 324th among men in a field of 7,223. His cumulative pace opened quick and eased steadily through the middle miles, climbing from the high six-minute range to settle near 7:45 per mile by the close, with the final 5K holding firm rather than continuing to slide. His opening mile of 6:43 stood as the fastest mile of the race, a strong burst that set the tone before the pace gradually settled. That early speed came at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, and like every distance in the race, his half marathon wrapped up on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder.
