Strong Front Half Fuels Steady Half-Marathon Finish Owen Littlejohns finished the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 1:42:07, averaging 7:47 per mile. He went out fast, covering the first six miles in 43:26 (7:14/mile pace), then eased through the second half as splits drifted into the 8:00s and 8:30s, closing with a 7:46 elapsed pace by mile 13. That opening six-mile stretch was the highlight of the race, holding sub-7:15 pace before the effort naturally settled. Littlejohns tackled the back half of the course through Boulder County, a city sitting at over 5,000 feet of elevation, before finishing on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder. Given the strength of the early miles, working on sustaining that rhythm deeper into the race could be a rewarding focus for next time.
