Steady Pacing Gives Way to a Strong Closing Kick Oliver Jones finished the half marathon in 1:54:17, an 8:43 min/mile pace. That mark improves on his 2025 Boulderthon marathon pace of 8:55 min/mile, showing sharper turnover over the shorter distance this time out. The race unfolded in two distinct phases: a consistent middle stretch from mile 1 through 9, holding between 8:41 and 9:01 per mile, followed by a strong final 5K. Mile 11 was the fastest full mile of the race's first two-thirds at 8:27, before a brief dip to 9:11 in mile 12. He answered immediately, closing mile 13 in 7:55, his fastest full mile of the day, carrying that momentum onto the Pearl Street Mall for the finish. Sustaining that pace at Boulder's altitude, over 5,000 feet, underscores the strength of that closing effort.
