Faster Pace Marks Step Up From Marathon to Half Ben Burnett finished the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 1:51:53, an 8:32 min/mile pace. That's a notable improvement over his previous Boulderthon appearance, the 2025 Marathon, where he covered 26.2 miles at 9:39 min/mile. Burnett's race followed a clear pattern: he opened fast, holding sub-8:00 miles through the first six miles and reaching the 6-mile mark in 47:20. The middle miles slowed into the 8:439:29 range before he steadied things out over the closing two miles at 8:57 and 9:00. That opening 6-mile stretch, averaging 7:53 per mile, stood as the strongest running of his race. Given the half marathon's net elevation was cut nearly 50% for 2026, from 384 to 203 feet, and with Boulder's 5,000-plus-foot altitude as a backdrop, his early pace held up well before the natural fade in the back half.
