Strong Start Fuels Steady Half Marathon Finish Eelya Vasilev completed the half marathon in 1:47:26, an 8:12/mile pace. His race opened fast, with the first four miles covering in 31:21 a 7:50/mile pace before easing gradually through the middle miles. From mile 10 onward, he found another gear, closing the final 3.1 miles in a pace back near 8:17, a solid rebound after the day's slowest stretch around mile 10. Running at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Vasilev's early pace held firm for a strong opening quarter of the race. With his even higher gear returning late, he might consider working to hold that opening rhythm a bit longer next time for an even smoother overall progression.
