Fast Start Fuels Strong Half Marathon Finish Anibal Pedrique crossed the line in 1:40:51, placing 389th overall and 308th among men in a field of 7,223. That finish put him solidly in the race's front tier. Pedrique's pacing showed a clear two-part shape: he opened aggressively, covering the first six miles in 41:39 (6:56/mile average), highlighted by a 6:41 second mile, before easing through the back half as splits crept toward 8:30/mile. That opening stretch was the fastest sustained running of his race. Given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, holding sub-7:00 pace through the early miles reflects strong early execution. With the course finishing on the Pearl Street Mall, there's room to experiment with a more even effort in a future outing to see how it affects the closing miles.
