Steady Pace Holds Strong Through a Fast Closing Mile Ethan De Bruyn Kops finished the half marathon in 1:35:01, placing 222nd overall and 180th among men in a field of 7,223 inside the top 10 percent while topping the 14 & Under division. That mark builds on his 2025 Boulderthon 10K, where he ran 7:12 pace; here he held a nearly identical 7:15 pace across more than double the distance. His mile splits stayed remarkably even through the first ten miles, hovering between 7:14 and 7:37, before he found another gear late. Miles 11 through 13 dropped to 7:14, 6:51, and 6:40 his fastest stretch of the race carrying him to the finish on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a city sitting above 5,000 feet of elevation. A strong, disciplined effort with a well-timed closing surge.
