The race opened well: his first two miles clicked off at 11:04 per mile, the fastest sustained stretch of his day. From there, cumulative pace drifted steadily outward, climbing past 12:00 per mile by mile 8 and settling near 13:12 per mile by the finish, reflecting a gradual slowing rather than a single rough patch. Given that Boulder sits at over 5,000 feet of elevation, the early pace stands out as a solid foundation. Building more even effort through the middle miles, closer to that opening rhythm, could help bring the overall time back down toward his 20232024 form.
