Steady Early Pace Gives Way to a Gritty Back Half Anthony Aspesi finished the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 2:32:40. He opened strong, covering the first mile in 9:36 and holding an 9:59 min/mile pace through mile two, the fastest stretch of his race. From there, his per-mile splits gradually eased, settling into the 11:00-12:00 min/mile range through the middle miles before mile 11 slowed to 14:11. He rallied over the final two miles, closing with a 12:04 mile to the finish. Aspesi's race took him out past Boulder Reservoir and along Boulder County backroads before finishing on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a course that sits above 5,000 feet of elevation. His early miles were a clear strength; building some of that pace into the middle and late stages could be a focus for next time.
