Strong Start Fades Late in Steady 10K Effort Edgar Hernandez completed the 2026 Boulderthon 10K in 1:10:17. His opening two miles were his fastest of the race, both clicking in at 9:45 pace, before a gradual slowdown took hold through the middle and closing miles, with his final mile easing to a 13:57 split. Racing at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet adds a layer of difficulty to any distance, and Hernandez's early pace showed real strength before the elevation and distance caught up with him. Looking ahead, working on maintaining that opening rhythm deeper into the race could help him close strong rather than fade in the final miles a small adjustment that could pay off in his next Boulderthon appearance.
