Fast Start Fades to a Steady Finish Christian Kendall completed the Half Marathon in 1:41:47, an average pace of 7:46 per mile. He opened aggressively, covering the first two miles in 6:23 and 6:34, and was still under 6:30 cumulative pace at that point. From there his mile splits gradually lengthened, pushing his overall pace out to 7:44 by the finish, with the closing miles settling in the 7:548:48 range. His fastest mile-plus stretch came right at the start: miles one and two combined for roughly a 6:28 average, the high point of his race. The 2026 half course, run at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, was redesigned with net elevation gain cut nearly 50 percent to 203 feet, a backdrop worth noting given the pace management on display here.
