Steady Pacing Through the Middle Miles Anchors a Strong Half Marathon Finish Faith Velez-Anderson completed the half marathon in 2:39:40, an average pace of 12:11 per mile. Her race unfolded in two distinct phases: a strong opening five miles that settled her cumulative pace near 11:30, followed by a gradual softening through the back half as elapsed pace drifted toward the 12:10-12:13 range before tightening again in the closing miles. Her standout stretch came early, covering mile five in 10:48, the fastest mile of her race and a clear high point in an otherwise consistent effort. The middle miles, particularly eight through ten, saw her pace loosen into the 13:40-14:00 range, but she rallied over the final three miles, closing in 11:51 for mile thirteen. That finish came on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a fitting cap to a well-managed effort at altitude above 5,000 feet.
