Steady Early Miles Carry Half Marathon Effort Through the Finish Bernardo Picon finished the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 2:36:24. Through the first five miles, he held a tight 10:55-11:06 per mile pace, reaching the 5-mile mark in 54:58. That stretch stood as the fastest mile-plus segment of his race, keeping his elapsed pace right around 11:00 min/mile. From there, the pace gradually eased, settling near 11:15-11:44 min/mile by mile 12 before the final mile came in at 14:31. Boulder's elevation, sitting above 5,000 feet, adds context to the steady effort Picon sustained through the middle miles. The course took him out past Boulder Reservoir and through Boulder County backroads before finishing on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder. Given the strength of his early pacing, working on maintaining that same rhythm through the closing miles could be a useful focus for next time.
