Even Pacing Gives Way to a Strong Closing Kick Sarah Adleman finished the Half Marathon in 1:52:49, an 8:36/mile pace. After an opening mile at 9:01, she settled into a tight band between 8:26 and 8:55 through the middle miles, holding her cumulative pace within a few seconds of 8:45 for nearly ten miles straight. That consistency set up a strong close. Mile 12 was her fastest of the race at 7:40, a clear surge after miles of steady effort, and she carried that momentum into a 8:00 final mile to bring her cumulative pace down to 8:37. That finish came on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a city sitting at over 5,000 feet of elevation, adding weight to the closing effort.
