Strong Start Gives Way to a Steady Second-Half Fade Tyler Benbow completed the half marathon in 2:44:06, an overall pace of 12:31 per mile. His opening two miles were the fastest stretch of the race, clicking off at roughly 10:43 per mile before the pace settled into the 11:00s through the middle miles and gradually eased toward 13:00-14:00 per mile over the closing stretch. The race built cumulatively rather than finishing with a kick, with the final mile at 2:42:37 elapsed marking his slowest of the day. Boulder sits above 5,000 feet, a backdrop worth noting given how his early pace outran what he was able to sustain later. Given how sharp that first two-mile block was, working on carrying more of that rhythm into the second half could be a useful focus for next time.
