Strong Finishing Kick Powers a Steady Half Marathon Esther Choo covered the half marathon in 2:30:19, an 11:28 min/mile overall pace. Her early miles were even, holding between 11:11 and 11:34 through the first three miles, before a gradual fade to a 12:58 split at mile five. From there she rebuilt steadily, trimming her mile times through the second half of the course and closing with a 10:04 final mile her fastest of the race. That closing stretch stood out: from mile nine to the finish, Choo covered four miles in roughly 43:13, a 10:48 min/mile pace, well under her overall average. The race, like every Boulderthon distance, finished on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a fitting stage for a finish that gained speed when it mattered most.
