Steady Early Pace Gives Way to a Patient Back Half Chanan Siglock completed the Boulder Half Marathon in 2:28:54, finishing 146th in the F 40-44 division. Her race opened briskly, with a 8:04 mile to start the fastest stretch of her day before elapsed pace eased gradually through the middle miles and settled near 11:22 min/mile by the finish. The progression was gradual rather than abrupt, each mile a touch slower than the last as the course wore on. Somewhere near the 9.5-mile mark, she would have passed through the lululemon Power-Up Zone, arriving there as her pace was easing into the 13-minute range. The finish on Boulders Pearl Street Mall capped a race run at more than 5,000 feet of elevation, a backdrop that shaped every mile regardless of pace. A touch more even pacing through the middle miles could help smooth the back-half fade next time out.
