Strong Closing Mile Seals a Steady Half Tommy Fitzgerald finished the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 2:15:11, an average pace of 10:19 per mile across the field of 7,223. His early miles eased from 10:47 to a race-best 9:57 by mile five, before settling into the 10:1010:40 range through the middle miles as fatigue crept in near mile 11. He answered with his fastest mile of the day, a 9:10 split to close out mile 13, pulling his overall pace back down before the finish. That closing surge stood out as the strongest stretch of his race, a good sign of pacing discipline held in reserve. With the finish on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, sitting above 5,000 feet, that late kick is a solid marker to build from for his next half.
