Strong Start Fades Before a Late Rally Isabel Kool finished the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 2:42:25, an average pace of 12:23 per mile, out of a field of 7,223. Kool's opening five miles were the highlight of her race, covering that stretch in 48:22 a 9:40 per-mile average that held steady mile after mile. The middle miles slowed considerably, with elapsed pace climbing from 10:07 at mile 6 to 12:34 by mile 12 as split times lengthened into the mid-teens. She closed with a strong final mile, dropping to a 10:29 split, her fastest full-mile split since the opening five, showing good finishing resolve after the tougher middle stretch. That last mile ran through the Pearl Street Mall, the finish for every distance at the race, in a city sitting above 5,000 feet of elevation.
