Steady Miles Give Way to a Tougher Back Half Nicholas Makowiec finished the half marathon in 1:47:37, a slower result than his 1:34:50 in the 2023 running of the same race. His pace held firmest early, clicking off miles one through six between 7:49 and 7:58 per mile, the most consistent stretch of his day. From there, per-mile splits crept upward, settling near 8:20-8:40 by the final miles before a late push brought him home. Nicholas passed through mile nine in 8:24, not far from where the lululemon Power-Up Zone sits near mile 9.5 of the half. Racing at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, holding his early rhythm through the first six miles stands as the clearest strength of his effort, with the closing miles offering room to build endurance for a strong finish next time out.
