Strong Closing Mile Seals a Top-Tier Half Marathon Finish Will Smith crossed the line in 1:36:02, placing 241st overall out of the field of 7,223 and 196th among men a top-10% finish. His race unfolded in two distinct phases: a brisk opening mile at 6:52, a steady middle stretch holding around 7:157:30 pace, and a softer patch through miles 811 before he closed with authority. That finish stands out. After ticking through mile 11 in 7:59, Smith rallied to a 7:12 twelfth mile and then a 6:45 final mile, his fastest of the race, to bring it home with real conviction. Fittingly, that surge carried him onto the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a finish set at over 5,000 feet of elevation a demanding backdrop for a closing mile run that quickly.
