Fast Start Fuels a Strong Half Marathon Finish Allan Martinez completed his half marathon in 1:48:37, an 8:17 min/mile pace. He opened briskly, cutting his cumulative pace from 8:14 to 7:46 through mile five, highlighted by miles three through five at 7:33, 7:32, and 7:39 his strongest stretch of the day. The middle miles eased through the 8:10-9:16 range before he closed with back-to-back 8:2X miles to the finish, showing a solid final kick after the mid-race dip. That softer patch lined up with the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 9.5, where his mile nine split slowed to 9:10. Martinez's race also came on a course run at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, adding a layer of difficulty to his effort as he pushed toward the historic finish on the Pearl Street Mall.
