Negative Splits Power a Strong Finish Shelly Albrecht finished the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 1:42:40, placing 450th overall and 97th among women in a field of 7,223. Albrecht opened steadily, holding an 8:168:24 pace through the first five miles, then shifted gears at mile six and never looked back. From mile six onward she ran mile splits at 7:23 or faster in five of eight remaining miles, with her strongest stretch coming in the final three miles averaging roughly 7:15 per mile, including back-to-back 7:017:02 splits to close out the race. That sustained surge, run at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, carried her from an 8:03 cumulative pace at the halfway point down to 7:50 by the finish, a clear sign of smart pacing and a well-executed closing kick.
