Steady Eight-Minute Pace Carries Strong Half Marathon Finish Mike Auer finished the half marathon in 1:44:55, an 8:00 min/mile pace across the 13.1-mile course in downtown Boulder. Auer opened briskly, covering the first two miles in 7:55 and 7:44, before easing to an 8:39 third mile. From there his pace settled into a narrow band between 7:34 and 8:26 per mile, with his strongest full-mile stretch coming at mile four in 7:34. He carried that rhythm through the back half, clicking off 7:41 and 7:54 splits around mile nine and ten right through the courses lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 9.5 before a slightly slower final mile of 8:14 closed out a consistent, well-controlled effort at altitude above 5,000 feet.
