Strong Opening Miles Carry a Steady Half Marathon Finish Kenneth Martinez completed the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 2:26:18. He went out at a 9:30 pace through the first mile and held sub-10:00 pace through mile three before settling into a steadier rhythm over the back half, crossing the line with an overall pace of 11:10 per mile. The opening 5K was Martinez's standout stretch, covered at a 9:57 average pace, faster than any other segment of comparable length in his race. From there, his mile splits gradually eased, spreading from the low-10:00s into the 11:00-12:00 range as the race progressed toward the finish on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a course that sits over 5,000 feet in elevation.
