Strong Closing Miles Power a Solid Half Will Sakowicz ran 1:37:37 to finish the half marathon, placing 283rd overall out of 7,223 in the field and 230th among men. He settled into a steady rhythm through the middle miles, holding in the low-to-mid 7:20s per mile through the first six miles before drifting into the 7:30s and 7:40s from miles 7 through 11. He then turned things around decisively, closing with a 7:06 twelfth mile and a 6:55 thirteenth mile his fastest mile of the race to finish strong through the Pearl Street Mall. That late surge, coming after the course's tougher middle stretch, shows good closing strength worth building on. Given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, holding pace as well as he did through the middle miles before finishing fastest at the end reflects strong pacing discipline.
