His average pace of 6:22 per mile reflected a race built on an early surge and steady management through the back half. Vercollone opened with his fastest mile of the day at 6:04, part of a first two-mile stretch that held that same brisk pace before easing slightly. Miles 7 through 10 saw a gradual rise from 6:34 to 6:47, the slowest stretch of his race, before he settled back toward 6:166:28 over the closing miles. Racing at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, his ability to close within a few seconds of his early pace speaks to well-managed effort across the full 13.1 miles.
