Strong Front Half Fuels Steady Half Marathon Finish Brandon Gouin, 38, of Superior, CO, finished the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 1:52:10, an 8:33 min/mile pace across the field of 7,223. Gouin's race was defined by a strong opening six miles, covering that stretch in roughly 47:49 at just under 8:00 min/mile pace, his fastest sustained running of the day. From there, the pace eased steadily through the second half, settling into the 9-plus min/mile range over the closing miles as he worked toward the finish. The result reflects disciplined early pacing on a course that finishes on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a city sitting above 5,000 feet of elevation. Given the strength of those early miles, Gouin might consider working on maintaining that rhythm a bit longer into the second half in future races.
