Steady Pace Carries Him Home in the Final Miles Troy Pena, 35, of Lafayette, CO, finished the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 2:08:45. His race held to a narrow band around a 9:50-10:00 min/mile pace through the middle miles, with mile 10 slipping to 11:20 before he answered with back-to-back strong efforts: 9:00 for mile 12 and 8:49 for mile 13, his fastest full mile of the race. That closing mile-plus stretch was the standout of his day, showing a runner with something left to give as the finish approached. The half marathon route heads out past Boulder Reservoir and Boulder County backroads before finishing on the Pearl Street Mall, all at over 5,000 feet of elevation - a setting that adds context to Pena's steady effort throughout.
