Steady Start Gives Way to a Gritty Finish John Neal completed the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 3:06:28. Neal's opening miles were his strongest, clicking off the first two in 10:50 each before settling into an 11:00-13:30 range through the middle miles. The pace eased further over the closing 5K, with miles 11 and 12 slowing to 18:30 and 20:35, before he closed out the final mile in 17:13 to reach the Pearl Street Mall finish. Miles 1-2 stood out as his best one-mile stretch of the race, run more than two minutes per mile faster than his overall average pace. Boulder's elevation, over 5,000 feet, adds a layer of difficulty to any effort at this distance.
