Fast Start, Strong Finish Bookend a Steady Half David Robinson completed the half marathon in 1:40:10 (7:38/mile). He opened briskly, clicking off a 6:55 third mile that stood as his fastest of the race, then eased through a stretch from miles 6-9 where splits drifted into the 7:56-8:31 range. He answered with a strong closing sequence, dropping back to 7:15 and 7:11 over the final two miles to close the gap he'd opened mid-race. The half marathon's finish on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder capped a course run at over 5,000 feet of elevation, a backdrop that makes his early sub-7:00 pace and closing kick both worth noting.
