Strong Finishing Kick Seals a Top Age-Group Finish Marissa Parris finished the half marathon in 1:42:31, placing 444th overall out of the field of 7,223 and 94th among women, third in her 45-49 division. Her pacing stayed remarkably even through the race, hovering between 7:46 and 7:52 per mile on a cumulative basis, before she closed with her two fastest miles of the day7:32 and 7:29over the final two miles to secure that podium age-group spot. That late surge came after passing through the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 9.5, and it paid off in the closing stretch. With Boulder's elevation over 5,000 feet as a backdrop, Parris's ability to accelerate late rather than fade suggests strong reserves; building in a similar finishing effort could be a useful tool going forward.
