Strong Start Fuels Steady Half Marathon Finish Matthew Williams completed the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 1:52:22, an 8:34 per mile pace across the 13.1-mile course. Williams built an early cushion through the first eight miles, holding between 7:41 and 8:07 pace and reaching halfway in roughly 1:02:30. The middle miles brought a gradual fade, with mile 9 slipping to 9:09 and mile 11 to 10:37, before he steadied again over the final two miles. His opening 8 miles, covered in under an hour at sub-7:50 pace, stood as the strongest stretch of his race. Williams finished on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a city sitting at over 5,000 feet of elevation a factor worth noting given his early pace held so firm before the late-race cost showed up.
