Strong Start Fades Into a Gritty Half Marathon Finish Billy Frederick covered the 2026 Boulderthon half marathon in 1:50:29, an 8:26 min/mile pace overall. His race split cleanly in two: through 6 miles he was clicking off splits between 7:43 and 8:09, holding a sub-7:51 cumulative pace, before the back half slowed steadily, bottoming out with a 9:52 mile eleven en route to the finish. That opening 6-mile stretch stands as the standout of the race, consistently quicker than anything that followed. The back half of the course took him out past Boulder Reservoir and along Boulder County backroads before returning to the Pearl Street Mall finish in downtown Boulder a course sitting above 5,000 feet of elevation, worth noting given the pace shift over the closing miles.
