Fast Start, Faster Finish Bookend a Steady Half Luc Chevalier crossed the line in 2:21:11 in the Boulderthon Half Marathon. He opened briskly, covering miles two and three in 9:45 and 9:38, before a rougher fourth and fifth mile (12:49, 12:38) pulled his cumulative pace back toward 11:07. From there he settled into a consistent rhythm, holding between 10:46 and 11:24 per mile through the back half, before closing with his fastest mile of the day a 9:21 final mile that dropped his overall pace back under 10:47. That late surge came right as he passed through the course's lululemon Power-Up Zone, near mile 9.5 of the half, where his pace had been ticking along near 10:49-10:46 before he found another gear to the finish. Given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, the closing kick stands out as the strongest stretch of his race.
