His cumulative pace held remarkably steady through the middle miles, sitting between 7:40 and 7:49 from mile 2 through mile 11, before tightening in the closing stretch to finish at 7:34 overall. That final push came from miles 12 and 13, his fastest full miles of the race at 7:02 and 6:59, a clear gear shift after ten miles of disciplined, even effort. Notably, his pace through mile 9 to 10 7:32 and 7:29 carried him through the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 9.5, right as the course begins its final stretch toward downtown Boulder, itself sitting above 5,000 feet of elevation.
