Steady Pacing Delivers a Strong Top-10% Finish Michael Sorensen finished the half marathon in 1:44:39, an overall pace of 7:59 per mile, placing 520th overall and 399th among men out of the field of 7,223. Sorensen's race was remarkably even, holding within seconds of an 8:00 pace from mile one through mile ten. A brief dip to 8:27 at mile eleven was followed by a strong rebound, closing with a 7:32 final mile his fastest full mile of the race. That finishing surge, run at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, capped a well-controlled effort with negative-split energy right when it mattered most.
