Steady Pace Through the Field, Strong Finish on Pearl Street Rick Aranda finished the half marathon in 1:38:11, placing 301st overall and 246th among men in the field of 7,223. His fastest stretch came early: the first six miles clicked off at a 7:20/mile pace before a brief dip near mile 8. He steadied through the second half, closing the final mile at 7:26/mile, nearly matching his early tempo and finishing with the same control he started with. Aranda's race unfolded at over 5,000 feet of elevation before ending on the historic Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder. Given the strength of that opening six-mile stretch, he might look to carry that early rhythm a bit further into the back half next time out.
